NEC Display Solutions Ranked #1 Specialty Stand-Alone Monitor Provider in 2005 by iSuppli
NEC Display Solutions of America, the leading stand-alone provider of large-screen LCD displays, today announced their ranking as the #1 worldwide best-selling monitor supplier to the specialty markets in 2005 according to iSuppli’s Specialty Monitors Tracker report.

Specialty displays are generally defined as delivering exceptional image quality, advanced functionality and the highest level of accuracy and image fidelity for graphic intensive professional applications. Some of the markets using specialty monitors tracked by the iSuppli 2006 report include medical imaging, film production, CAD/CAM and digital graphics.

“NEC has a long heritage of providing the specialty markets with the best technologies and features sets available, creating unsurpassed image quality and unparalleled display performance,” said Todd Fender, Product Line Manager, NEC Display Solutions of America. “NEC’s dedication and reaction to end-user input along with their commitment to exceeding the needs and requirements of those end-users continues to drive each new generation of product development.”

Specialty monitors typically utilize the most advanced LCD technologies available along with higher grade panels to produce extremely accurate color reproduction, sharper image contrast and greater image control. Unsurpassed reliability and functionality are also important to these markets where accurate and consistent viewing experiences are critical. NEC’s MultiSync 90 series, engineered specifically for these markets, is composed of a wide range of sizes and features and deliver among the largest color palettes and longest warranties available in the industry.

Some noteworthy trends in the report include:

• Display shipments for PACS (Picture Archive Communications Systems) in the medical area will be the fastest growing application for specialty monitors. Unit shipments are expected to rise by a 20.8% compound annual growth rate by 2010.
• The fastest growing segment on a unit basis will be graphic arts which are predicted to see shipments increase 3.3 million in 2010 from 1.7 million in 2005.
• The specialty markets are demonstrating a faster shift from CRT to LCD due to a lower price delta between the two technologies.
